Cranstoun Saturday Space

Please see attached poster for our Saturday Sessions that will be starting on Saturday 6th July.  I would really appreciate it if you can promote this if you feel appropriate.

This is a service being delivered by Cranstoun Inspire on Saturdays between 2pm – 7pm for the wider recovery community as a space to come and have fun and meet new people or it can be used as a safe space/way to spend time engaging in meaningful activity to eliminate the temptation of using drugs or alcohol.  It is open to all Sutton residents in recovery.  No structured treatment will be provided at these sessions however should people require some advice or wish to refer whilst in attendance we have our staff and volunteers to help.

A few criteria/additional information:

  • People can not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol when attending.  They will be asked to leave if staff deem them unsuitable and putting other people’s recovery at risk.
  • This is not a crisis service.  Not all staff and volunteers working on these days have training to deal with complex needs.  We are trying to create a friendly atmosphere where people can relax and have fun.
  • No under 18’s even with an accompanying adult.
  • Other than a name on entering the building for fire safety reasons no information will be taken from people.  Attendance records will be destroyed at the end of each day.

Fairtrade Fortnight Mon 9th to Sun 22nd September

Be the Change. Choose Fairtrade

I'm getting in touch as Fairtrade Fortnight is in a few weeks and it would be great if you could offer your support, promote the Fortnight and encourage your colleagues and friends to buy Fairtrade products. Would it be possible to once again put something in the SSAB newsletter like last year? The theme this year is Be the Change. Choose Fairtrade. Buy Fairtrade products and speak up for fairer trade.

This is a special year as it is the 30th anniversary of the Fairtrade Mark in the UK. Much has been achieved over the years and there are now around 5000 Fairtrade products available to buy. From1994 to 2022, farmers have received £1.7 billion in Fairtrade Premium payments to invest in their communities and businesses. But much more needs to be done to build a fairer future.

Buying Fairtrade is helping to protect the UK's most loved food and drinks (such as tea, coffee and cocoa) and the livelihoods of millions of farmers who grow them and are faced with with the severe impacts of the climate crisis - droughts, floods, extreme temperatures and unpredictable weather.

For more information and digital resources, please see

During Fairtrade Fortnight, we will be doing Fairtrade stalls on Fri 13th Sept at Oru, Sutton High Street and on Sat 14th at All Saints Church Carshalton. Please do encourage people to come along and also find us at the EcoFair in Carshalton Park on Bank Holiday Monday 26th August.

Safeguarding Adults Week

Safeguarding Adults Week is a time for organisations to come together to raise awareness of important safeguarding issues.
We believe that working in partnerships allows us to share our knowledge of safeguarding, learn from others and ultimately create safer cultures.

During Safeguarding Adults Week 2024, we’ll be collaborating with our partners to explore a different safeguarding theme each day. The themes will encourage us to consider how we can work together to establish safer cultures within our workplaces and communities.
