Looking after Older Loved Ones

Sutton College is proud to introduce a brand new FREE course for new unpaid carers in the London Borough of Sutton.

The course is a collaboration between the Council, Sutton College, Sutton Carer’s Centre, Citizens Advice and Sutton Talking Therapies, and is a part of the borough’s new Carers Strategy.

“Looking after Older Loved Ones” will provide practical information and advice to support unpaid carers throughout their caring journey, covering topics such as carer’s rights, financial and legal matters, home adaptations, assistive technology, looking after yourself and planning ahead.

The course  will start on Thursday 25th September and will take place every other week, with the final session on Thursday 20th November. There are two time slots available: a mid-day session from 12.00pm - 2.00pm or an afternoon session from 2.30pm - 4.30 pm, so carers can pick the one that best suits their schedule. Each session will include 90m of interactive learning followed by 30m of (optional) socialising, tea, coffee and cake!

To be eligible to attend, you must have recently started providing unpaid care for another adult, such as a partner or older family member and you must have a Sutton postcode OR be registered with a Sutton GP.
